terms of sale

Porters is a very young and very small press, which places emphasis on handmade books and independent operation. Therefore, we ask that you carefully review the following terms of sale, and that you accept them when purchasing our books.

general

  1. Our books are sold under a pay-what-you-want model, with a minimum price and suggested price based on materials costs and the labour which has gone into binding each book ourselves.
  2. Our books are entirely handmade and, as such, are all slightly different. You are asked to expect small imperfections, such as pages which have not been fully cut. Please contact us before ordering if you have any questions about what to expect.
  3. Depending on current stock levels, it may take up to 30 days from purchase for your order to be shipped. We encourage you to contact us if you would like to receive a time-to-ship estimate before placing your order.

shipping

  1. A shipping cost will be calculated from the physical size of your order and destination country, and added to your order at checkout.
  2. Orders to the United Kingdom may be sent via Royal Mail Tracked 48 or Royal Mail First Class, and international orders may be sent via Royal Mail International Tracked and Royal Mail International Standard.
  3. You will receive a confirmation email once your order has been despatched. This will include a tracking number for orders sent via Royal Mail Tracked 48 and International Tracked.
  4. If your order is heavier than 2kg or larger than the maximum dimensions which can be sent via the above shipping methods, or if you would like your order sent to a country for which Royal Mail does not offer International Tracked or Standard shipping, please contact us for a custom shipping rate.
  5. At present, we are unable to prepay any import or customs charges for international deliveries. Therefore, you may need to pay for these on receipt of your order.

cancellations and refunds

  1. In the event that we are unable to fulfil your order, you will be notified and refunded in full.
  2. Until we have confirmed, via email, that your order has been shipped, you may cancel your order for a full refund.
  3. Cancellations and returns are not accepted after your order has been shipped, except in the event that:
    1. your order has been damaged in transit. Please contact us with proof of damages to request a return, and then return the damaged order by post; we will send a replacement on receipt of your return. You are asked to pay the cost of posting your return.
    2. your order has been sent via Royal Mail Tracked 48 or International Tracked, and it has been lost in transit. You can choose whether to have your order refunded or be sent a replacement.
